FAQs

At R M Jones Plastering & Building Contractor Ltd in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, Anglesey, we make every effort to ensure you understand what we can offer you, so you have full confidence in all of our building and plastering work.

  • Do you install partition walls?
We do install partition walls, which are non-load bearing walls to divide a room. We will construct the timber frame, plasterboard it, and then skim it to provide a beautifully smooth finish for painting or wallpapering.
  • How long will it take for my plastering work to be finished?
The length of time any plastering work will take depends on a number of factors: · The size of the room · How much filling or repair work is required · Any complications, such as access · Whether plasterboard is needed There are also factors to be considered when considering the time it will take for the plaster to dry out; these can include weather conditions or the number of areas of thicker plaster required. Don’t be tempted to turn the heating up to try and speed up the process, as this may cause the plaster to crack or haze if it dries out too quickly. Generally though, it will take between 3 to 5 days.
  • What is K-Rend?
K-Rend is a brand name of an external rendering product, and one of its main benefits is that it is self-coloured, so there is no need to apply paint. It is also very long-lasting and durable and easy to clean using a pressure washer. It also reduces heat loss by increasing the thermal efficiency of the walls by as much as 85% and reduces condensation as it raises the temperature of internal walls.
  • Can you remove Artex?
We can remove Artex; however, we will need to assess your Artex and possibly recommend that it be tested first for asbestos. Whether it will need to be removed and/or scraped back first, or bonded and skimmed over, will affect the cost, but we will always advise you on the best course of action for cost-effectiveness and durability.
  • How can I best prepare for the plastering work?
It is best to remove all furniture from the room, however if it is too large or heavy, we will cover it and work around it. Please remove any pictures, mirrors, and ornaments and keep any children or pets out of the room whilst we are working – both for their safety and to minimise the transference of any dust. We will provide dust sheets to protect the floors (including floors where we need access to water) and cover any light fixtures.
  • Do you offer painting and decorating services as well?
We offer a complete painting and decorating service, so when your plasterwork is completely dry, call us and we will be happy to provide you with a free estimate for this service.
Man spackling new drywall or plasterboard

Rhys did a good job at plastering my large kitchen and hallway ceiling. Turned up on time, was flexible and stayed late to complete the job. Also recently pebble dashed our gable end which I was very happy with. I would hire again in the future in a heartbeat.
